| Latest images feature mountains and ice | October 2006 |
The rolling hills and derelict barns of Virginia and the eerie ice floes of the Arctic are among the latest images to appear in our online galleries.
The Blue Ridge Mountains and Shenandoah National Parks featuring the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline drives make Virginia a truly beautiful part of the USA. Farmlands amidst rolling hills, mountain vistas and scenic waterfalls, and derelict barns are highlights of the area featured in the latest prints to be added to the site. We are also delighted to preview a series of monoprints which will be launched at the Great Art Fair in Alexandra Palace, London from 30 November to 3 December 2006. A central feature of this new portfolio will be our new Arctic collection, a taster of which can be seen within the Natural World portfolio of the gallery. |
| Martin Smith selected to exhibit at Great Art Fair | September 2006 |
Martin Smith, principal photographer with World on Film, will be exhibiting his latest work at the Alexandra Palace between 30th November and 3rd December.
The Great Art Fairs - held in locations across the globe, including San Francisco and New York - feature the latest and best offerings in contemporary art. The selection criteria are strict, with few photographers being selected to exhibit, so Martin is delighted to have this opportunity to display his work. Key to Martin's exhibition will be his signature works - large-scale panoramas - many of them reflecting his principal interest: barren landscapes, both urban and rural. Looming large in his display will be raw, gritty photographs of central Australia's decaying industrial sites and South London's neglected, graffiti-covered buildings. By contrast he'll also be showing some of his latest work: vast Arctic icescapes which convey a softer, yet just as striking, beauty. Martin was inspired to photograph landscapes when he bought his first camera thirty years ago. His early work focuses on the UK and Europe but as he travelled further afield he became and remains more fascinated by the exotic and the unseen. In recent work, Martin has embraced the power of digital imaging, adding a hint of the unexpected to his barren landscapes. |
| Chiswick Moran features World on Film artwork | August 2006 |
World on Film has supplied a series of especially commissioned pieces to the Moran Group for the 120 bedrooms of the recently opened Chiswick Moran Hotel.
World on Film produced the series of prints for the hotel based on its theme of ‘West Coast in West London’, in which the spirit of California is combined with London urban living. The black and white wide-format London panoramas each have a feature highlighted to match the distinctive colours of the hotel’s bedrooms. Working closely with interior designers at Project Orange, World on Film’s images ranged from London’s bridges and cafes to docklands views reminiscent of corporate America. Michael Moran, CEO of the Moran Group, is delighted with the result. “World on Film were professional to deal with from the outset, supplied exactly what we asked for when we asked for it and helped us to stay within our budget. We are delighted with the artwork.” World on Film specialise in supplying contemporary photographic artwork with an international flavour to the leisure and hotel sectors and to individuals. |
